Lawrence ‘Larry’ James Miller, age 81, ascended to Heaven on February 26, 2026 at his Hayward home with his wife and family at his side.
Larry was born on June 19th, 1944 in Ashland, Wisconsin to Leon and Bernice Miller. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Leon Miller and Connie Collison. He graduated from Ondossagon High School and later received training as a millwright. He was married to his bride of 57 years, Katherine Irene Miller (Szumal), at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ashland on October 19, 1968. He is survived by his daughter Laura (Kevin) Odell and son, James (Shara) Miller, and grandchildren Grace, Sam and Charlie Odell and Natalie and Rachel Miller.
Larry had a passion for life and took pride in caring for and providing for his family. Along with his wife, he became a successful innkeeper throughout Northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed tinkering and problem-solving. Larry was a master machinist and gunsmith and an accomplished marksman with several state and national championships to his credit. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and fish fries with his wife and family, as well as a good Wisconsin Brandy Old Fashioned.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 7th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of Mass. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Regional Hospice Services.
